see that was kinda a pun.. "sew much" vs. "so much". Yeah well what do you want it's Monday.
What a long and busy weekend, and it did involve sewing, and even bleeding, but I will get to that in a bit. I went out to Santa Clarita Craft Lab yesterday to teach a class in image transfer.I had kinda retired this class because it is hard to teach and still have the students leave with a completed project. It is a lot of info, and it can get confusing very easily. I have tried hand outs and demos and samples, and finally decided to shelve this class. Well Cyndi would not hear of it, and made me come of retirement. I lamented on how to share this info in a clear way and still have a product at the end.
Finally after a 2 hour avoidance nap 2 weeks ago, I got it. I made books for each student- wire coil bound them and inside had a page with a transfer technique, and the opposing page they could place a sample that they made. We did 6 different transfer techniques, and worked on wood, paper, metal, fabric, and sculpty! It worked wonderfully, and they even ended up decorating their books with image transfers!
see the notebooks?
Other happenings around this weekend- BUNNIES!!! Yes, it is that time of year ( actually I am starting a little bit earlier this year) to get bushels of bunnies ready for holiday sales.
I do actually make bunnies and kitties all year long, but now is when there is a bunny explosion and they take over the house. I prep my sweaters in the living room, and stitch in the dining room, stuff and finish in the living room and then stack them in the dining room like little bunny soldiers on the buffet until it is time to go. I always love to see bunches of them together.
This morning though, as I was sewing, I did something I have never done before... I sewed my finger!!! EEEEWWWWW!! I have heard stories of people doing this, I really never considered it would happen to me. The funny part is, I actually kinda just stuck my finger in under the needle- It wasn't like I was sewing along and got all outta control, it was like an involuntary twitch.
Anyway, ouch. To top it off we only had those crappy band aids that are plastic-y not the nice fabric stretchy kind, or even a happy "hello kitty" kind. Humm, must rectify this ASAP.
Oh, man, talk about "so much" -- I have so much to say back to you as well!!! :)
First of all, I hope your finger is ok, and that it is now sporting a "Hello Kitty" bandaid! Secondly, WHAT A GREAT IDEA for how to teach the image transfer class!!!!!!!!!! Third, those bunnies are adorable, and I would love to take a class on how to make stuff like that from you!! And last, but not least, not only do I see the cool notebooks that you made on the table, I SEE CHOCOLATE!!!!!! And it looks like GOOD CHOCOLATE!!!! So please come and teach back in South Pasadena SOON and bring the leftover chocolate from the image transfer class with you!!!!!!!!!! :) :)
