hehehe look what I finally did!

Ha-ha! I just did this new postcard- AND got it to upload to my typepad. Here is the part that I am proud of... I made the bird brushes!!! hehehe. Look what I did!! I made a brush!! I am loving that this door finally has opened for me and I get to play with all this great stuff.

Did I mention that I was a spoiled bunny this x-mas?? I mean really spoiled. I got a new computer, and it has all the bells and whistles- so many I am having to re- learn a lot of stuff. I came from windows 98, and moved to windows vista, which I think I am going to like a lot. Some of the side effects right off the bat are that I am now allowed to access my email ( lord knows why I was being locked out before) and I have better use of my typepad account- which is LOVELY!!! I mean really lovely~One of the things I have been playing with is digital scrap-booking. I am NOT a scrap-booker.
But, it is a really interesting concept, and one that I think any multi -media artist would be interested in. I have seen some amazing digitial collages, and always been kinda stumped. I have read articles, and magazines and just didn't quite " get it" . For some reason I sat down yesterday, and it all totally clicked. I made a postcard- not a great postcard, but a postcard none the less. I made another one this morning, and for some reason "layers" suddenly made sense to me as well. Many of you are probably way ahead of me here, but I was so happy to get something new into my head. Makes me feel a little less old, and un-trainable!!! I have been enjoying such a lovely holiday- I hope you have too.

I was gonna share a postcard with you.... but I can't seem to get it into the post.... humm more learning on the horizon. If I don't talk with you before- I hope you have a wonderful New Years!!

'twas the night before

'twas the night before the night before Christmas and all through the house the only creatures stirring were the cats fighting in the kitchen. As I entered the kitchen at 4:30 AM (yes I am bitter) to stop these holiday festivities- I stepped into something wet. Never a good sign. And then wet again. It turned out to be the biggest cat barf I had EVER seen.I'm talking man size here. Oh an early Christmas present for me. Little did I know my gifty was gonna get a lot better! OOOH another little gift, and something from the other end of my kitty in the dining room. My holiday is complete- I don't think too much of it as cats are prone to barf, and well you know, shit happens. So the next morning- I am keeping an eye on the both of them to figure out who left me the early presents. My older and more sensitve cat Neko was the gift giver, and by 11:00 I can see she is really not doing so well. A quick Christmas eve trip to the vet brings us back home armed with antibiotics for a kitty sized upper respitory infection, AND- wait for it... a kitty enema. Yes- you read that right- a freaking ENEMA!!! A fair amount of abdominal prodding from the vet ( it made my eyes water!! and no she was not prodding me.) decided that Kitty had some "unfinished" business to deal with. Man. Now seriously , I would do anything for my pets, but I was kinda unsure about this,I had to see not my favorite vet, and wasn't so convinced about her diagnosis and decided to wait a day. Kitty decided to pee on me in bed at 4:30 AM on Christmas morning. Yes, my cat can tell time. Dang, I guess I was gonna have to do this thing. I spent an hour on line reading up, and realized it was the best treatment- and that it isn't an uncommon thing to have to do, just uncommon for me. OY. Lets just say kitty didn't really enjoy the process- actually neither did I. I was just lucky that she wasn't feeling so well and couldn't put up a big fight. Did you think I was going to spare you of some of the aftermath because that would be gross- HA!!! Yes, she pooped, then again- then a stink came out of that cat that made me wonder if I still loved her. I am actually pretty good about this kinda stuff, and I wasn't sure I was gonna make it. I did, and she did, and I am so happy to say that kitty is back to almost normal today. A Merry Christmas for all... Now for another poop story go here- he even included pictures. I hope that you all had a happy holiday- because even though I joke, we had a lovely holiday.

A christmas story-

Last night though very very cold, Harry and I went to get a Christmas tree. I wasn't going to get one this year, but suddenly felt like decorating and having the company of a tree, and the smell. Isn't that just one of the best things ever?? The smell of a Christmas tree?? I meant to get a teeny tiny tree but missed by about 3 feet. One year my grandmother was sent off to get the Christmas tree, and my grandfather told her not to get a big tree. She returned home sans tree and told my grandfather and my Mom that the tree was so big it was going to be delivered. It was one of those trees that you used to see inside banks. It was so big they not only cut the bottom off, but had to cut part of the top off and the thing looked like it grew out of the floor and right through the ceiling. That was her - innocently nutty and wonderful. She never lived the tree thing down. I leave you with a picture of my grandmother- and her Christmas tree story- please do tell me a story about a Christmas tree in your family.

On Friday, I taught a soldering class at Zinnia. It was supposed to over full, but turned out to be 2. It all worked out for the best, as we got along so well, and had a really nice time. Thanks to Ken, and Chris for coming out to play - I hope to see you both again soon. I sadly didn't get a picture of Kens finished solderedornament, but here is what Chris was making... and this... If you are local and haven't been by Zinnia in a while, stop in. They are all nutty for Christmas, and the decor is so wonderful. You will get the bug to decorate a tree for sure!!! Center for the Arts and much more...

Oh- I have so much to tell you. But first, has anyone seen my dang check book or date book?? I CAN NOT BELIEVE that they are missing- it is very unlike me- and I honestly feel like less of a real person without my date book. It not only tells me what to do or ignore every day, but it has ALL of my important phone numbers scribbled in crazy notes in it. So, if you find either one, I totally give you permission to staple gun them to my body. Now on to more fun stuff. I'm gonna start off the the dream thing today- last night had a standard white poodle in it- while I was in Europe- taking dance classes and collecting recycling. If you have any ideas about that one, get in touch. Lets talk about the Center for Arts holiday sale!!! OMG- it was so much fun to see all my art friends and to meet new ones. I had a great day, and sold tons of stuff. I met some super great new people - Especially "Bossy" and her friends. I was introduced to "Bossy" but her real name escapes me as we only referred to her as "Bossy" during our conversation. She promised to harass me until I got it together and got my stuff back on etsy. I was totally laughing because I have given this very lecture to artist friends, and yet my etsy store remains empty. If Bossy keeps her word, I should be getting harassing emails any minute now. (Note to Bossy- I have a show on Thursday, and then I promise to get some stuff in the etsy store- and thanks for the shove, sometimes we all need that, and thanks for the laughs!!) BTW Bossy( AH! and her real name is Michelle) is a film- maker and She and her wife Barbara have a film opening on Wed. at The Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. It is called A finished life. I also want to thank Sheryl from twoplums for coming out. I had placed an order for a blessing bracelet from her, and she was going to be visiting at the show so she brought them with her. These simple bracelets are soooo sweet and come in a pack of 8, so I had enough to share with my arty friends who LOVED them and wore them for good luck, and they worked!! o.k. so now I will share a few bad bad pictures that I snapped moments before the sale actually started- I will apologize now for the glare and plain sucky-ness of these pictures.
