This is me dancing- can you believe it was only one class. I know, neither can I. Really.

By the time I was supposed to go to class, I had come to my senses and re- thought this plan. I knew that humiliation was in my future and I wasn't sure I wanted a full plate of crow and annoyance for dinner. I swallowed hard and went. So did about 17 other people. We were all trying to be invisible, and not sweat ( yeah right) and not forget the steps AND follow the dang music. One guy even had the nerve to try and ask me a question while I was dancing. Can you believe it?!? That was way too hard and I think I answered "Estes Kefauver" and that shut him up.  About now I am wondering what the question was.
Actually everyone was super nice, and friendly and just as freaked out as me, ( I think that made us sweat just a bit more). Our instructor Susannah, kept us distracted with her humor and presto, we were all dancing. Not necessarily well, but dancing, and smiling. I am happy to say that no injuries occurred and no falling. All in all a very successful evening. I enjoyed the experience so much more than I expected and I am looking forward to going back next week. I have to say, if you are on the fence about this one, jump in and do it. I am going to tango myself off to find some dinner now.

Today, I did a very strange thing- very strange. It will shock some of you into thinking you don't know me anymore. Maybe I don't know myself anymore.  I signed up for dance classes . I KNOW!! Can you believe it?!? I can't. I am gonna pause here and let those of you who fell off you chairs get up. ........... Are you o.k.? Now here is the thing- I don't watch those dance shows at all- so that isn't it. The deep dark secret that is no secret is that I don't like to dance- I feel really silly. BUT I have always had this desire to learn to waltz etc. I drive past a dance studio near my house, and I just decided I am gonna do something that is so out of character for me, and something that I NEVER thought I would actually do. And that idea made me really happy so I knew it was the right decision. I'll let you know about that after the first class!!! I thought, "hey it would be fun to do this with a group of friends..." so I sent out something like 20 e-mails- and I was overwhelmed with the lack of response!!! HA! One person has taken this particular class, one person hates but loves the idea and is thinking about it, and one person was going to see if they could get a friend to join too. The rest just kind of pretended to not get an email that involved dancing!!! I conned my brother into going with me- he likes to try new things. We of course got razzed by our older brother, and my father just kept laughing...  . My biggest concern- do you remember that Malcolm in the Middle episode when Lois was taking dance lessons?? More on the whole thing after the first class.

soldering notes~

Class was great! It kicked my butt, but it was great. I remembered all my supplies which is quite amazing, BUT I forgot my camera. :(  Luckily, Paul had his and Tamara let me use hers, here are some of the pics of the finished projects. I was really blown away at what these guys produced. Once they got started, they jumped rigSoldering_class1ht out of the Sara_solderbox and started adding elements to the charms... fun.

soldering class at Zinnia

oooh- on Saturday I am teaching a soldering class at Zinnia! I have been wanting to do this for some time, but just didn't have enough soldering irons that worked well. So, I got 2 new irons that will get hot enough, and we will share during class and we are going to solder our butts off! I wanted to use this class as an introduction to soldering, the process is easy, it is just a matter of practice.  I think it will be lots of fun!  hummmm- I notice that my samples don't look that shinny- but in real life our stuff will be super shinny!Ccouragecharms

messy works in progress

I just have not felt like playing with my fabric lately. Shari gave me tw0 huge bags of fabric scraps, some vintage, some new, and my brain when crazy. These are some of the things I am working on now....

That about covers it!

snap peas, Sol Lewitt, and James Brown

Who says snap peas aren't for breakfast? That's exactly what I had. I sat in my mini snap pea patch
( only 3 plants) and had a lovely breakfast with the cat for company.  The weather is just about perfect here- sunny but not hot.The birds are loving it and going crazy. Then I began working on my secret garden project. I won't be sharing pictures of that right now, but if all goes well, I will have some beautiful pics in a few weeks! Oh don't you love the suspense?? Let me back up here and say I am NO master gardner, I am also not an accomplished weekend gardener, my yard is usually a study in weed patterns of the Southern California desert. I am a short attention span gardner who lengthened her span and made a plan. We will see how it all turns out. I will share with you the lovely nasturtiums that I picked this morning though. Who couldn't love a mason jar of flowers!?! I will also show you a work in progress- those dang chunky book pages based on artist Sol Lewitt's  process. - I am really not sure where this is going, but with James Brown, and goats it should be strange to say the least. Wish me luck with this one!!!

Southpark vending~

Yesterday I did my first Southpark market. Man did we have some great weather for that!! I think it might have been around 80 degrees out. People were friendly, and the folks who put it together were super. Phillip Dane, Amy, and Kendra were people I worked with and I have to say that for all the events I have done, these folks were just about the nicest.  The people watching was amazing and I so wish I had some pictures for you, but really how do you take a picture of a stranger without offending?? Give me some good lines to use, and I will start to post some! Some of the outfits were so odd, and others were FAB. like the English girl with a skirt from Barcelona- o.k. I could have taken her picture... I'll work on it. Traffic thru the event went in waves and I think we might have had more visitors if not for the Rose Bowl swapmeet. The other thing that made the day for me was that the organizers let us move spaces so I could vend next to Hannah, Michelle, and Shari. ( Kari and I were sharing so she had to hang with me! Thanks girl!!) All in all a pretty nice day- I will definately go back and vend there.
Two_cutiesThey look so cute and friendly in this picture, but **blush** they had just finished fighting over me!! YEA!!!

Can you see Michelle's hands?? I don't know some kinda arty freaky puppet show or something....see how attentive Hannah is to the hands???
