it was a nice try...

I have mentioned that we live in a fixer kind of house.  We are missing part of the kitchen ceiling, part of a kitchen wall and part of the laundry room ceiling. Windows don't shut all the way so come winter, we nail them shut.  We have a make-shift downstairs bathroom that the accessors thankfully don't even consider a bathroom because it is so small the sink won't fit in it. No sink means not a bathroom.... you get the picture. Our upstairs bath, the real bathroom, we have not had the courage to tackle.. it scares us both. We just keep the door shut at all times. Some demo has been done, but more plumbing needs doing are we aren't up to the mess of it yet. It has carpet and peeling baby blue paint. AND a smell. We really are afraid to go in.  Yesterday the neighbors where having a lot of work done - a tree removed, shrubs removed a trench dug... Harry was trying to get a good look from a little storage room. He couldn't see. I suggested he try the bathroom ( it is the only room where people can actually see into our house- that makes sense doesn't it?!) He said " nice try" .  I think we might make it another year without opening that door.

finished commissions!

Comission_2These are 3 commissions that I have been working on. I am really happy with how they have come out. They look wrinkled in the photos a bit, but they really are not. The fabric has been tea and coffee dyed.
RachelcomissionCaseycomission_1I hope my client is happy!

P1010036This is my cat rolling around on the table as I am trying to set it for Christmas eve dinner like minutes before guest arrive.  Don't tell. o.k.? yeah- I let the cat on the table- bad cat mom.  But she loves me.

I promise to have some new art to show and tell soon. I just finished a commission, and have 2-3 more to do. This first one came out great, and if my computer had been working with me instead of against me, I would have been well on my way into the 2nd. one.  I will take some pictures and post soon. The Valentines Day postcard swap has gone really well, and been lots of fun. I may set up another one in a few months. Just have to catch my breath... o.k.- I am off to bed to finally rest these very tired bones!

Postcardswap1Sorry to  be missing for Valentine's Day.... I do this thing where I love to be busy, and then I wear myself out. February has been a fun filled month with blog parites, birthday parties, Valentine's Day Postcard swap, classes, Lisa Congdon's opening at reform school ( remember... my big fun is the supermarket so this was a big deal for me! Her work is FAB, and I got to chat with her for a bit and she is super nice-I was a big awe struck geek!) and I took a commision. All of which have been great, but I ran outta steam! It is so sunny and warm here that I am feeling a little more revived. Today I am teaching at Zinnia- an image transfer class- and I am looking forward to that. Classes are always fun. So, this pic was the postcard design I did for the Valentine's Day post card swap that I put together thru flickr. I will be doing it again!!! It was so much fun, and the cards that I have gotten have been so great, really really beautiful. The participants have been terrific and excited about it all too so that makes it fun as well. Go check out the cards that we have all made!!

post office...

I really don't like to go to the post office. My local office is very close, and has many windows, of which only 2 are ever open. The line often goes out the door. I dislike it very much. I had to go on Friday.... so after all of looking around I could stand, I began to scan the line of patrons. Do you play the game "who would I go out with?" . Well, it was slim pickings. BUT, the best part of going was a guy wearing a fez. I swear. It was leopard print, and I think he didn't mean it to be fez, but it was. It was awesome. AND he had on a thick gold chain with a coin medallion that went to his belly button. I swear. AND a giant belt buckle with writing on it, but I couldn't read it because it was kinda turned over because of his belly. I swear. I just wanted to stare at him, but then I was afraid he would talk to  me because he was being chatty with the lady behind him , and she was kinda a nut too (she has insurance on her cell phone so it's o.k. that she drops it but the insurance is no good if she gets it wet. Which she did, but it still works), and I didn't want my possible "date" to think that I hang out with the nuts from the post office. I swear.

hooray!!!

I found my lost pictures.... yes that's right, I lost pictures in my computer. Couldn't find 'em. I was sad because they were of Creative Courage in Woodland Hills which is a very fun place.

This is the cupcake tower that Kari created for me. Isn't she the best Sister -in- law?
I had a wonderful birthday and was totally spoiled by my friends and family. I mean totally spoiled. I LOVED it. Thank you all.
And, thanks to all of you who came to my blog party. That was fun! It is great to see new "faces" and for me to find new blogs too. Tonight I will be drawing names from my "hattish" container and I will be letting you know soon who will be getting some mail from me ! To add to that anticipation, I went to the swap meet today and picked up a few items  and scored on vintage sheet music. So some of that will be coming your way.

Blog party.

After getting a lovely  gift from Pam Garrison of beautiful paperBalboagirls_1,  I am feeling like connecting with my blog friends and having a little party of my own.  My blog birthday is in Dec. but my own birthday is this weekend. I can't share cake with y'all, but I can share some pretty paper and things with you. If you leave a comment to this post by Sunday night I will put your name into a hat ( or hattish item)  and the first 5 names I pull out I will send a little paper packet to. So, do you want to come to my blog party?
