conspiracy theory...

Could it be that my cat steals time? I have more that one, so obviously, more time lost... just a thought. Especially since I seem to be behind on every project at hand. I still have not submitted pics, or bio for the bizarre bazaar show in Dec. ( bad artist) nor have I delivered my sample board to Zinnia for my collage techniques classes.(bad artist). It will be done soon, but right now I am  typing with a cat in my lap, so it will have to be later. Mind you this is better than when the cat types. That is just a mess. So my news for today is to check out the class schedule at Zinnia, I will be teaching a class on the little fairy diorama in  a tin house. And, check out my super talented sister in law at Funky frocks, she has redecorated her site and put new stuff up. My typing seems to be annoying the cat, so I must go now. Have a great weekend.

self portrait challange

I am continually amazed and impressed by those bloggers who can 1. have the courage to participate in things like self portrait challenge, and 2. can remember to post those entries. I am not a member of SPC, I doubt I could be pulled together enough to continually do it, but the current challenge is a pic. with someone and I did want to share this. I love this kid so much~ words can not say. He told me once he loved me as far as the stars and I am still melted by that. Tynandian9206

a lovely suprise....

I had such a lovely surprise today, I got to meet Michelle Caplan. It all just worked out~ she was going to be on this end of town and I was going to be  home so she came by. We had a great chat, some ice tea, and hung out and got to know each other a bit. It was just so fun.  She made me laugh so much I was crying, and she got me all inspired to re-post some stuff on etsy. Sometimes you just need some new energy and a push.  Especially from an artist whose work you really admire. Know what I mean? Thanks Michelle!!  Anyway, it was just a really nice day.  And so, Michelle is going to round out the fabulous list of artist participating in Sous Le Soleil in November. I think this event is going to be a lot of fun. The artist that are participating are neat people, fun to be around and super friendly. I think it will be a good time for artist to meet new artist too. So here is the list:

work in progress...

YellowseaweedminiquiltNow remember, this pictures of my mini quilts are not complete, they still need some attention and ironing and framing... but I want to share what I have been up to lately.  I am loving this weather and feel so inspired to get busy today. For those of you not in S. Cal. we are below 80 degrees today and it is wonderful.

I recently bought some bookplates to ID my books from Michelle Caplan~ Which I love and I encourage you to check out her blog and etsy store. Great stuff!!!

another sneek peek...

BlkseaweedminiquiltAnother mini quilt in progress.... made from organic hemp and felt . Busy weekend. My chunky book group met on Saturday. We had the best dinner- Thanks Shari- and then traded pages. It is always so much fun and so exciting to see what everyone has made. We decided we could not let dia de los muertos, or Halloween pass without doing a page, so we chose that as our next theme. We have been meeting about every 2 months, but we will shorten that time up to get to play with some holiday themes. The one after Halloween will be " winter wonderland."  I wasn't too sure about either theme, nothing came to mind right away. So, the next morning over coffee I did some online research and came up with an idea for dia de los muertos. I have 5 pages done already!! What I love is that is a new tech. for me and it is coming out so neat. Even my husband was impressed. He laughed when I told him that I had only read about this tech. earlier in the day and had never done it before. I will keep it a secret for now because I know that some of my chunky book  group read here sometimes. Winter wonderland might be a little harder for me. So keep your fingers crossed. I want to finish my pages early as I still to work on bunnies and mini quilts. We have been gearing up for another Sous Le Soleil  artist sale for Nov. 18th. , but before that we are hosting my Dad's 80th birthday with close to 100 invites. What was I thinking? Needless to say our weekends are spent trying to do yard work, and patch the house...and I mean that literally! o.k. I gotta go to work. Have a great week!

busy little bird....

Finchminiquilt_1Sorry to be missing this week.... I really have been busy.... I have been working on bunnies, and mini quilts, and chunky book pages that always take longer than I expect. This is a work in progress mini quilt that I will share today. I printed the bird image on to fabric and then used colored pencils. I have never done this with my mini quilts before. I think I will play with it some more. Comments / suggestions are appreciated!!! Hope ya'll have a great weekend.
