Weekend projects...

Cleaning was NOT one of my weekend projects. I did have the family over for dinner. I did cook two new things. I did do someImg_1050 yard work. I did craft! The bear is a larger version of the muslin one I did earlier. Sorry for the picture quality here. I used left- over felted sweater to make him - two different kinds, but I really like him anyway. I just need to adjust the pattern to give them some sort of chin! Next up is a piece that I am working on for a class idea.. photo transfer to fabric.. this one isn't done, it is called the "Fairy of lost keys". Finally I have my little felted sweater bunny creatures. I just love these guys... Jackson is posing for size comparison there. These little guys are looking for nImg_1067Img_1052Img_1055_1ew homes... I also have some on etsy. It is true, rabbits do multiply quickly!!

Early Morning...

Ah, Saturday, sleeping in.... yeah right. We have one cat ( pic. in last entry ) who talks, A LOT. Especially at 6:30am. I finally gave up and got up. The good news is that I had laundry rolling and marketing done before 10:00am ( yes that is very early for me to be done with marketing) So, seeing as I was being so productive, today I was going to tackle photo-shop again, and post some pictures on my "soon to be web site". I took pictures, I cropped, I moved, I worked really hard. I didn't get any on my web site. I finally took a break at 1:00 completely fed up. I also checked up on our crock pot dinner. I know you aren't suppose to open the lid, but I can't help it! STONE COLD!!! Shit. Family coming for dinner and I have a pot of cold pork. Hummm do you think they will notice? Note to self... don't eat the pork. O.K. wiggle wires connected to crock pot-- ta da! Heat. Turn that bad boy on high and cross fingers. Back to computer... must sell stuff, house too full, must post pictures.. ETSy!! yes. Easy. Even I could do it!! Ah look, not stupid arty type that poisons family with pork. Smart arty type that poisons family with pork! Check out my stuff on Etsy. And Happy Year of the Dog!

Show and Tell

I wanted to share some of the pictures of the stuff I made last weekend... I had so much fun with these. First up is the sweater quilt I had been wanting to make. I can't tell you if it is comfy or not because in the next picture, you can see that Jackson has claimed it for her own. That is about the only pose I have seSweater_quilten the cat in, for about a week.   I also made my first ever teddy bear. I used muslin just to give it a try, Jacksonand he is kinda rough, but I like him! Muslin_bear

postcards

I guess that I am in denial that it is really Monday, and that I have important things to do. Oh well, who need a new night parking permit, or to drop off papers to the lawyer? Who can be bothered with such mundane things when there is stuff to make? With that said, I just finished my apple pie breakfast, and gocco printing my new years postcard swap. I am very excited.... I have 5 3 2 extras.... if you want one, e-mail me. Only 5....3 2

getting crafty...

It seems that little crafting party on Saturday got me all crafted up! That evening I finished hand stitching a tiny muslin teddy bear. Then on Sunday A.M. I made another monster, and finally cut all my sweaters for my new recycled sweater throw. I gave up for now on finding the rotary cutter and decided to free hand cut them. In the afternoon I stitched all those up, and used some leftovers to make another bear! I even had time to go on a little nature walk with my SIL and favorite nephew. One of Harry's friends came for dinner which ended with apple pie (yum). Just about a perfect day! I will post some pictures of my projects soon.

A crafty gathering...

Img_0992This year, I am trying to set up a crafting day one day each month. We started our group in Dec. and our first project was gocco. It was very cool. Today we did stuffed monsters. Or as my nephew used to say, "stuff of animals". Some people in the group claim to not know how to sew..or that they aren't creative...hummmm. Don't believe it. It was such a great day, I am already looking forward to Feb. event. Our first little monster is made from a tablecloth. C*U*T*E,by this girl. This next monster was made by Kari, and eventually owned one big handlebar mustache. My long lost friend Mary made the frog( she said she wasn't crafty!)The next 2 are mine( Turtle and Mrs. Livingston) And our final monster is by Candace of Gallery Ophelia. Img_0994 They all turned out so great!   Thanks  guys for coming over and playing!!!Img_0993 Img_1002_1Img_1000Img_0995

Class3_1

Fabric Collage

Class4_2Today I taught a class at Zinnia- Fabric collage. It was amazing. I had a sample up in the shop, but the things these women made where so very different from what I do. They put fabric together that I would NEVER put together, they went in directions and used colors that I NEVER would have, and their stuff was AMAZING.  I think it is a true artist that can look at one persons art and then take it to their own place. The only sad part is that I am not sure they get how good they are. I have never had the opportunity to teach such talented and inspiring people. They made me feel like a really good teacher, when in fact it was them teaching me. I am thankful for days like these... click on these pictures to see whaClass5t they made.

Tyn 1- linen closet 0

I did it. It only took me a year to get up the courage. H and I moved into my grandmothers house just over a year ago, and dealing with our stuff and sorting hers is traumatic! We are not unpacked. Just some things. I still have dishware and cloths in boxes. Shameful. So I decided to claim this space and begin to really unpack. My grandparents were only the 2nd. occupants of this wonderful 1926 Spanish style home. My sweet, funny, brave, intelligent grandmother (saki- was her name to us kids) lived here for 50 years. My great-grandmother lived here for a time too. So, inside this closet I found items belonging of course to my grandparents, but also to my Mom and her sister, and to my great-grandmother, and to the FIRST OWNER of the house! Once I got the closet emptied I realized that I had to paint it, because it would obviously never be empty again. 3 coats of bright white, and it is lovely. The plan is if I start emptying boxes, I will eventually find my rotary cutters. I refuse to buy another pair! I know they are here in a box somewhere... See there is a master plan after all. heheh. I don't have any closet pictures.. too dark... so I will share the living room floor sanding event. This was the first time in 50 years that the room had been empty of all furniture.  That is Harry  trying to keep up with  the mess.Img_0901

lovely

short note today... Just wanted to share this with you. I love these blankets, and so badly want to make one. Do you think I need to surge the blocks together? I think it wouldn't look as nice, but want to make sure it is sturdy. Ideas? O.K. now I am off to clean out linen closet YIPPEE! Maybe one more cup of coffee first.
